Creating a Basket Weaving Workplace

The hobby of basket weaving is one that can provide much joy and satisfaction. It does not take up a lot of space or materials, but there is a need to make sure you have an area for the hobby that you can call your own. Having this space does wonders to help you get even more involved in your craft, and in many cases, will allow you to become better at weaving.

Most basket weaving spaces have a few things in common; they have a flat space that is large enough to accommodate all the materials and supplies that you use. Most flat surfaces are about 40 to 50 inches in length and 36 to 40 inches in depth, but the actual size is up to you. You also need a good chair that rolls up to the work space at a height which will allow you to do your craft. Next you need storage bins, which you can either hang or stack near the work table. These storage bins should be labeled with what you will be holding in them so that you know where to find what you are looking for when you need it. Then you can use cups or other holders for the tools you find that you use the most, and put these in an area right on your work table.

If you have books about basket weaving that you want nearby you can either put them in a storage bin or on top of the bins if they pull out so they are close by for easy access. Make the space your very own so you can create your best pieces of basketry.
